With over twenty-five years of clinical experience in government mental health and more than twelve years in direct practice, I have had the opportunity to work in a wide range of settings, including both residential and outpatient treatment facilities. Throughout my career, I have developed a robust expertise in providing support to diverse populations, particularly women, adolescents, and children who have faced severe challenges such as violence, abuse, or trauma.
My experience encompasses conducting and co-facilitating various support and psychoeducational groups. These initiatives are designed specifically to address critical issues related to substance use, trauma recovery, and the unique needs of women, adolescents, and children. I believe that group therapy can create a supportive environment that fosters personal growth and healing, and I regularly emphasize the benefits of participation in these groups to my clients.
In my therapeutic approach, I enjoy integrating movement practices, particularly Mindful Resilience Yoga, during our sessions. This technique not only supports individuals coping with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) but also aids in enhancing overall emotional and physical well-being. I work collaboratively with clients to discover strategies that resonate most with their journeys.
As a mental health consultant, I also take an active role in the community by facilitating health and wellness seminars. These seminars aim to educate participants about mental wellness and provide them with tools to improve their systemic processes, whether they are individuals or organizations seeking to enhance their mental health support systems.
Furthermore, I hold certifications as a Trauma Professional and an Anger Management Facilitator for Adolescents, equipping me with specialized skills to address these significant issues effectively.
I have completed training in Alternatives for Families-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which enables me to implement evidence-based strategies that are critical in supporting families and individuals navigating through difficulties related to trauma and anger management. My commitment is to empower my clients and facilitate their journey towards healing and resilience.
